After giving this show a try, I was instantly hooked from the first episode. This is as real as it gets for a football TV show. You can't even compare this to other TV shows related to football. Michael Irvin is perfect as Host/Executive Producer. He tells it straight and with full seriousness as the tough and extremely dedicated Hall of Famer that he is. Currently the 3rd episode (Game day) is by far the best where the hopefulls play a full game as the X's and O's battle to win the game all trying to impress the coaches. The hopefulls that are on the show are the best players on the street that were on the cusp of making it into the NFL, most all college players that got injured or got in trouble. For whatever reason they didn't make it to the NFL, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is hopeful that Michael can deliver him a football player where he is reserving one roster spot for his training squad. This is the Contender meets the NFL and you will be shocked even amazed as the hopefulls go through the toughest conditions and tests that Michael and the coaches can think up. At the end of each episode, the coaches gather together in the War Room at The Cotton Bowl to break down the players that do not meet their expectations and decide who goes home. "The Cowboys can not use you. You might play football for somebody, but it won't be for Dallas." - Michael Irvin Read more Review posted on Tuesday, June 16th 2009 at 3:55 pm |
