On their only day off, the girls are ordered back into the gym only to be called out by their new coach, Sasha, for going to the keg party the night before. Caught red-handed, Payson, Kaylie, Emily and Lauren are subjected to a day-long callisthenic boot camp to show what happens when they try to be just “ordinary.” In between all of the push-ups, pull-ups and rope climbs, the girls find themselves at each other’s throat. Payson blames the girls for getting her into this mess; Emily needs to get to her job, but is stuck with girls who don’t even like her; a very hung-over Kaylie is distraught that she hasn’t heard back from Carter after their fight; and Lauren is agonizing over her one-night stand. In the end, can the girls finally pull it together to make it through the day and to Nationals, or will all of their hard work be for nothing?

Episode Quotes |

(Carter struggling to tell Leo about his sleeping with Lauren)
Leo Cruz: So what's so urgent that it can't wait?
Carter: I can't tell you.
Leo Cruz: Hey man, even though you dumped me for my sister, we're still friends. | Emily: (about Sasha during the workout) What is up with him anyway? Is he some sorta sadist or something? We went to a party. Big deal! | Sasha Beloff: (reading Emily's resentment) I resent that no one has made me feel welcome here. | Kaylie: And by the way, Lauren. Emily beat you fair and square in Marty's trials. I mean, do you honestly expect us to all walkout of nationals after you fall off the beam...again. | Lauren: (about how to help Emily get out the window at the Rock) Well since she's so awesome why can't she just vault up there? I'm kidding. |

Lauren: Having sex does not suddenly give you JLO butt or Pam Anderson boobs.
Referring to actress/singer Jennifer Lopez who's infamous for her rather plump backside and the former Baywatch/Home Improvement star Pamela Anderson who's just as infamous for having breast implants. | Emily: Somebody's been watching a lot of Dr. Phil...
Referring to the mid-afternoon chat fest, Dr. Phil, that features TV's favorite non-psychologist. Dr. Phil McGraw. | Lauren: (to Pastor Harold) What are you E Harmony?
Referring to the infamous internet dating site that has in the past been sued for not allowing same-sex couples to meet with the use of their site. It's a known haven for Christians to meet in a safe and secure environment but also has been accused of excluding those who profess no faith. |

Kaylie And by the way, Lauren. Emily beat you fair and square in Marty's trials.
This is a direction reference to the opening episode and the competition held by The Rock's former coach, Marty Walsh. That included Lauren cheating to get an advantage, by moving Emily's springboard, but still ended up losing in the end. |

Analysis |

Unfortunate Casting or Storyline?
I loved Candace Cameron (Burr) on her former series, Full House, but I'm not so fond of the new character she's been asked to portray. Summer, the girl who appears to be nothing more than Steve Tanner's appendage. The Summer who is so boring and flat that no one has bothered to even notice she's hanging around (except Lauren). The Summer who claims to be a Christian but suffers from the Tammy Faye Baker syndrome of looking like a make-up queen with way to much jewelry and high end clothes.
I fail to see, after four episodes, what was so appealing to Ms. Cameron Burr to bring her back to the small screen to play this character. Either it's the writers (Holly Sorenson, Richard Gans, Richard Register, Joanna Johnson) who've failed completely to flesh out the character or it's simply that Candace has lost that delicious spark that made her a winner on Full House. But it's undeniable that something is missing. |
