Episode Notes

During the original broadcast on ABC Family (August 10, 2009 @ 9:00 pm), a commercial aired (during the second break) before the show returned that featured Britney Spears plugging the new line of clothes (Candies) from department store, Kohl's. Which was then tied directly into the show upon it's return when Lauren holds up a colorful blouse (for Kaylie to see) and announces that it's from the new Candies line by Kohl's and even mentioning Britney Spears (see cultural references).

Episode Quotes

Emily: Has anyone seen my blue hoody?
Chloe: Did you check the pile of dirty clothes in my room?
Emily: Which one? (Chloe chuckles sarcasticly)

Emily: I'm showing Sasha my floor routine today.
Chloe: I'd sure like to floor him with my routine.

Sasha: (after watching Emily's floor routine done to Max Morgan's 'Ya Better Believe' he ejects the CD) Cheeky. Footloose meets Bring It on. Two and half stars.

Nick: It sucks being benched.
Payson: Oh I'm not benched I just have a...
Nick: ...a herniated disk.
Payson: How did you know that?
Nick: Come on Keeler, you're the female me. We're the top two gymnasts at the Rock. Don't you think I had my eye on you?
Payson: I really hadn't noticed.
Nick: You got it all, beam, bars, floor, vault. You're going to the Olympics and it won't surprise me when you win the Gold.
Payson: (beams a smile) You really think so?
Nick: Yeah I really think so.
Payson: But not if I have to sit out a week before nationals.
Nick: You just gotta manage the pain.
Payson: I've already had to cortisone shots and my Mom won't let me have another one.
Nick: That's a bummer. Look my dad is an orthopedic surgeon, so he can get it. And I can score it for you. But only if you need it. I'm not saying go behind your parents back or anything, I'm just saying if you really need it. I don't know what I'd do without it.
Payson: What do you use it for?
Nick: Torn tendons, both wrists, torn ACL.
Payson: You're kidding I thought you were super human.
Nick: So you have been checking me out? (Payson blushes)

Ronnie: What do you think? I got these at that fancy health food place downtown? Fat free, gluten free, sugar free.
Nick: Congratulations you bought flavor free cup cakes.

Payson: Oh yeah Kaylie, do have a dress I could wear?
Lauren: (to Payson) You in a dress?
Payson: What? I just wanna look nice.
Lauren: For Nicky Russo?
Payson: What are you talking about?
Lauren: I don't know, just those secret little powwow's you two have been having all week. (in a sexy voice and pretending to be Payson) Oh Nicky, Sasha's making me rest my back. Whatever shall I do?
Kaylie: (pretending to be Nick) I'd be happy to stretch you out.
Lauren: (pretending to be Nick) Let's start with those hip flexors.
Payson: You guys are gross.

Chloe: Kim, how's Mark?
Kim: He's good, he's sorry he can't be here tonight.
Ronnie: Well, I understand, tough times.
Chloe: Well not for some people who's mansion shall remain nameless.

(Kim confronts Payson about her lies)
Kim: That dress looks adorable on you.
Payson: Oh, thanks it was on sale.
Kim: Was nice of Kaylie to mark it down. Payson what it going on with you? First you lie to Sasha about how much cortisone you've had and now you're trying to lie to me about buying a dress. It's just not like you. Is it your Dad or Nationals...
Payson: I lost it.
Kim: What?
Payson: The money you gave me for the dress, I lost it. I put it in my gym bag and it must have fallen out. And I know how tight things are and I didn't want you to worry so I just borrowed a dress from Kaylie.

Episode Goofs

Carter and Kaylie are forbidden, per the gym rules, from dating. But Carter has as the background on his phone a picture of him and Kaylie kissing. Wouldn't this be kind of a risky (stupid) move if he were trying to keep his and Kaylie's relationship a secret?

In episode three, after Carter and Lauren slept together, Lauren found Carter's phone in the couch and has apparently had it ever since. And Carter has known all this time that it's missing and he's NOT yet reported it missing or stolen.

Cultural References

Brian: Hey look we got a bid on the Bill Clinton bobblehead.

Bill Clinton is of course the now former President of the United States from 1993-2001.

Lauren: (holds some clothes up so Kaylie can see) Look what I got from Kohl's.
Kaylie: Adorable.
Lauren: It's from there new Candie's line.
Kaylie: What are you their new spokeman?
Lauren: If it's good enough for Britney then it's good enough for me.

Lauren's comments actually tied into a commericial that aired just before the show returned from break and tied directly into this. Kohl's is a department store with 1000 locations in 49 states across the U.S. and has recently started selling a new line of clothes called Candie's and featuring Pop superstar Britney Spears in their commercials.

Sasha: Cheeky. Footloose meets Bring It on. two and half stars.

Footloose was a 1984 movie starring Kevin Bacon about a cummunity of nuts jobs in Elmore City, Oklahoma (shocking!) who banned dancing for almost 100 years.

Bring It On is a 2000 movie that featured Kristen Dunst as a cheerleader next in line to lead the National Championship bound high school squad. But she uncovers that most of the success is tainted. 4 stand alone sequels have followed. Bring It On Again (2004), Bring It On: All or Nothing (2006), Bring It On: In It to Win It (2007) and Bring It On: Fight to the Finish (2009).

Sasha: We're not picking music for your myspace page, Kmetko.

Myspace is a famously successful social networking service owned by News Corp.
