Wayne Judd is accused of murdering Sparky, so Cheryl and Loretta track him down in his backwoods hideout and return him to the police to prove that he's still alive. Wayne accepts a deal with the police and appears to be permanently free, albeit with a black mark on his record and lost of substantial police retirement benefits.

Jethro and Grandpa Ted slowly begin to accept Wayne as part of the family.
