The Awesomes

The Awesomes

Seth Meyers, SNL's Mike Shoemaker, and Lorne Michaels' production company, Broadway Video, The Awesomes come together to create this animated half-hour superhero series. Prock (Seth Meyers) is the low-powered superhero son of Mr. Awesome, the world's greatest superhero.

When Mr. Awesome retires and his team disbands, Prock tries to carry on the family legacy and make sure that the greatest superhero team, The Awesomes, remains funded by the government. To do so, he must gather heroes that the original Awesomes rejected: Frantic (crazy), Impresario (mother issues), Sumo (anger-management problems), Gadget Gal (a hero from the 40s given a new life but old attitudes), Muscleman (not very smart), and Hotwire (possibly a traitor). Together they must rise above their issues and become the superheroes that destiny intended... while thwarting the evil schemes of the mind-controlling Dr. Malocchio.

1x10: The Super-Hero Awards: Part 2 recap: Dr. Malocchio's henchmen are securing the military while the villain relaxes in the Oval Office and negotiates the surrender of all of the countries on Earth. One of his henchmen reluctantly admits that they've had no luck finding the Awesomes, the only heroes left on the planet with superpowers. Muscleman, his new lieutenant, tells him that they will be hiding in the holograph training room, the safest place in Awesome Mountain... read more.

1x8: The Pageant recap: Hotwire is on the phone to her employer, saying that she can't look while the team is in Awesome Mountain. Her employer tells them to get the team to the pageant, just as Gadget Gal comes in and tells her that there's a good argument going on. They go in to where Prock is telling Frantic that he won't be a celebrity judge at a beauty pageant because they need to focus on crimefighting. Muscleman backs Prock but Frantic insists that it'll show that the Awesomes can be fun. Hotwire points out that Concierge recently found a poll showing that the Awesomes are the least fun superhero team... because Prock polled as the least fun superhero. Eager to get everyone out of Awesome Mountain, Hotwire suggests that a pageant would be just the thing. Prock thanks her for having her back and Muscleman complains that he has first rights on having his friend's back... read more.

1x7: Paternity recap: The world is waiting for the Awesomes to screw up again, blaming them for the Robotherapist attack. In his office, Dr. Malocchio watches with satisfaction . He receives a scrambled signal from his secret mole within the Awesomes, and takes it in private. The mole says that he or she is getting close to getting the one thing that Malocchio needs, but that they have to proceed carefully to avoid rousing suspicions. Malocchio assures his mole that no one could possibly suspect that a member of the Awesomes is a traitor... read more.

1x6: Robotherapy recap: After the Awesomes return to their Earth, Joyce Mandrake arrives to inform them that she's revoking their government funding. As Dr. Malocchio looks on, Joyce points out that the government isn't going to pay superhero teams to go to alternate Earths. She denies their appeal but Malocchio suggests that there is a way the Awesomes could keep their charter. He mind-controls Joyce into obeying him, and then tells Prock that the government has hired him because he knows so much about superpowers... read more.
