Riku Tachibana's grandfather tends to make odd hand gestures. Because Riku was raised the older man, he has picked up the gestures which the other school children find very funny. Eventually, Riku realizes his grandfather's gestures have great meaning and that the older man has not been making them randomly. Instead, he has been teaching them to Riku in order to protect him.
