Officer Tom Hanson wasn't taken too seriously because he looked too young to be a cop. He is reassigned to Jump Street, where he meets fellow officers Penhall, Hoffs, Ioki, and Captain Jenko. His first assignment involves a High School drug dealer named Waxer.

Their first assignment under his command involves stopping a gang of students who take their principal hostage at their High School after the gang leader had been humiliated.
