Emergency Level One

Emergency Level One

On a scale of 1-5, the emergencies in this series are the lowest level -- level one. Each incident is still important and requires medical, police or fire reponse, but the emergency won't usually make breaking news since it affects fewer than four people, is contained, and doesn't immediately peak the curiosity of TV viewers or radio listeners. As the emergency is happening, you might hear about it on the traffic report. Later that day, you might see it on your local news -- if it makes a good human interest story. This series tells stories about emergencies like: two pregnant women who are involved in a car crash; a police shooting that puts a patient's life in the hands of the trauma team; a young veteran who makes it home safely from Iraq only to be gunned down in a Nashville nightclub; and a freak horse-and-buggy accident that leaves an elderly man fighting for his life.

WHOEVER WROTE THE SUMMARY IS AN IDIOTRating: 1 likes, 0 dislikes

Whomever wrote the summary is clearly an idiot and has NO knowledge of emergency medicine. Level One refers to the type of TRAUMA CENTER featured in the show not the patient's status, in this case the emergency department at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Level one is the HIGHEST classification that an emergency facility can obtain as it indicates that the department is equipped with the greatest resources, specialists, etc. for dealing with emergency medical care. Patients must meet certain critical criteria to be considered for transport to a level one trauma center and therefore have the highest need for specialized/emergency care. This show documents the cases seen by the staff at the level one trauma center at Vanderbilt. Anyone that has an appreciation and understanding of true emergency medicine will find this show interesting and enjoyable. Read more
