Recap

Biker Chico Fuentes is on the run from Sheriff Clay Horton. Horton wants Chico to sign over his half of his ancestral land so Horton can use it to run illegal aliens across the border, where he sells them fake green cards and puts them to work on illegal road gangs, bilking the state out of thousands of dollars. He corners Chico and puts him on the road gang, after forcing the signature out of him.
In L.A., Walter prepares to go see Teresa Fuentes, Chico’s sister and the person who helped him invent Automan. She opens her door to see Horton's deputy Stone, who roughs her up before forcing her to sign over her half of the land. When Walter and Automan arrive, she describes her dilemma and Walter leaves to help rescue her brother.
When they arrive in Teresa's hometown, they go to Chico's lawyer, Gretchen Lewis. She explains the extent of Horton's power in the town. Teresa reveals both she and her brother falsified their signatures, nullifying the deal. Walter and Teresa go to the family homestead, where Horton and his men plant marijuana in his rental car and bust him. He and Teresa are taken to the road gang, headquartered at Horton's house. She is reunited with Chico. Back in L.A., Automan poses as Agent Mann and taps into the police computer to discover Walter’s arrest. He accompanies Lt. Jack Curtis in the Autocar to clear Walter.
Horton is put in a jam when state official Carl Donovan tells him to expect an inspection of the road repairs he's responsible for in a week. Horton puts the road crews on round-the-clock duty to make the deadline.
Automan sees Walter after he drops Jack off at Horton's office and is searching for a power supply to recharge his energy. Jack gets nowhere with Horton in his effort to free Walter. Automan visits Walter that night. Walter tells him to go to Donovan to get to Horton.
The next day Jack meets with Gretchen, who suggests he go to Donovan in person. As they talk, Chico's biker gang, the Renegades, roar up, determined to free their buddy. Automan takes on the guise of a biker and wins a duel for leadership of the gang. Jack meets with Donovan and convinces him to come see Horton's operation.
Gretchen arrives at Horton's house and reveals herself to be his accomplice, updating him on Jack's activities. Automan makes all the bikers surrender their weapons and sneaks into Horton's house to replace his heavy weapons with electronic fakes. As Horton's forces pull out to finish the road repairs, Automan arrives with the Renegades, drawing the fire of the deputies. When they run out of shots, they use the fake guns, which derezz in their hands, and a fight breaks out. Walter takes care of Horton, while Jack arrives with Donovan and the Renegades mop up the deputies. Back in L.A., Walter and Automan receive honorary jackets from the Renegades.
