Recap

The scene opens with a fight in a small arena. One of the men gets half of his head cut off and Lucretia tells Batiatus that she loves the games. He tells that he would love it more sitting where Vettius is sitting rather than watching it on the sidelines. Lucretia says that he will get there one day. Solonius comes up to them and greets them. Vettius brings in his champion fighter, but it is Gannicus, a newcomer, and Batiatus' new slave, that gets all the praise. Batiatus says that he is a true gladiator. The fight begins and Gannicus holds his own in the small arena, laughing all the way at the lack of skill that the other gladiator possesses. A girl distracts Gannicus by flashing her breasts and he gets cut. This makes him put his swords down and he then fist fights the gladiator. He grabs his swords and Batiatus tries to tell Gannicus not to kill him, but he can’t hear him and he still kills the gladiator. Batiatus tells a servant to tell the holder of the gladiators to treat Gannicus to a reward...
