Battletoads is the story of three teenagers that, one day, find themselves given the opportunity to become Royal Guards for a Princess. They accept and become warriors known as Battletoads, using their new powers to protect Princess Angelica and her mentor, Professor T. Bird. The Princess wears a powerful amulet around her neck, which the sinister Dark Queen desperately wants. Using her minions, she will stop at nothing to get the magical amulet and rule the universe.
Based on the video-game franchise developed by Rare, Battletoads was published by DiC Entertainment. After airing the pilot episode it was never picked up as a full series. The lone episode was later released on a VHS.

Professor T. Bird and Princess Angelica, under attack from the Dark Queen and her Beast Police, flee to a remote planet where they gather the genetic essence of the Battletoads in order to create a new generation of warriors. They head to Earth in an attempt to find three humans that are worthy of protecting the Princess.
At that very moment, three nerdy teenagers are being scolded by their principal for being losers. After school they meet at the arcade, where T. Bird and Princess Angelica suddenly appear and offer the three boys a chance to become Royal Guards for the Princess.
