Two years after the end of Newhart , and 14 years after the end of The Bob Newhart Show, Bob Newhart returns to television in this series. Bob McKay (Newhart) is the creator of a comic book superhero (Mad Dog), but currently works as a greeting card artist. As the series starts, American-Canadian Trans-Continental Communications Company (AmCanTranConComCo, and specifically Chuck Terhorst, chairman) is bringing the Mad Dog character back to the comics and wants Bob to return.
