| Show Slang | Toon: Toon is an abbreviation of "cartoon". This is the way animated characters are referred to. The term was first used in the 1981 Gary K. Wolf novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit? and popularized after its film adaptation Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Toons are usually anthropomorphic animals (sometimes objects) who possess amusing abilities that contradict laws of physics: they can stretch into a thin line, squeeze themselves through any hole, break into pieces when struck, turn into colorful blots when slammed by something heavy, walk on air (literally) until they realize that there is no support under their feet, get burned or frozen without any damage. |
