3 Gallery Images	Lonely, played by Russell Hunter Russell Hunter played Lonely, the noisome, pathetic little petty thief who was probably Callan's only real friend. In an interview Edward Woodward stated that the late Russell Hunter was largely responsible for the creation of the character of Lonely, taking the character and building on it, even down to adding the rather unpleasant feature of the character being overwhelmed with body odour whenever he became nervous.
