Captain Planet and the Planeteers

The show follows a group of young teens that were assembled when Gaia, the spirit of Earth, awakens from a century-long sleep to the pillaging of the planet by a largely oblivious humanity. Fearing for the future, she sends magic rings to five youngsters from around the globe - Wheeler, from North America, has the ring with the power of Fire; Linka, from Eastern Europe, has the ring with the power of Wind; Gi, from Asia, has the ring with the power of Water; Kwame, from Africa, has the ring with the power of Earth; and Ma-Ti, from South America, has the ring with the power of Heart, which is a ring which enables him to read minds. They are Gaia's team in the battle against further destruction of the Earth. When they all put their rings together they summon the magical hero "Captain Planet".
