Romance novelist Teresa Gorman is in love with action sportsman and womanizer Wayne Jennings. Gorman's sister Jess McCurdy sees Jennings for what he is and tries to talk her out of marrying him, but on a TV talk show, Teresa announces her wedding plans publicly.
Later that night, Jennings receives a phone call from Teresa in which she says she now sees that he is only after her money and that the wedding is off. In a rage, Jennings drives to Teresa's house in Malibu. We see Jennings firing two shots into Teresa's body, then driving away.
Despite Jennings's protestations of innocence, Columbo soon unravels his story and Jennings breaks down and confesses. However, further investigation reveals that Teresa was actually killed by another bullet from a different gun than the one used by Jennings, and that this shot was fired half an hour earlier. Although the police release Jennings in light of this new evidence, Columbo is still convinced of Jennings's guilt, but there seems to be no evidence that proves it. | | There are no foreign summaries for this episode: Contribute |
