Da Vinci's Inquest is a critically acclaimed and award winning TV series set and filmed in the city of Vancouver. The show focuses on coroner Dominic Da Vinci, an ex-cop determined to fight for both for the dead and the living. Aiding him are trusted pathologists and homicide detectives in order to solve the circumstances of the deaths he comes across, many of which are unnatural.

The series stands out from most dramas in that almost every episode revolves around two or more new cases that rarely intertwine. Also distinguishable is the resolution to most stories. Many cases are closed without all the details given to the audience, and some are simply left unresolved. The story arcs sprinkled throughout a season or more can sometimes be given little to no attention, and characters frequently engage in casual dialogue or incidents that have little significance to the main stories.

The main character is roughly based on Larry Campbell, who, like the character of Da Vinci, was a coroner before being elected mayor of Vancouver. Following suit the show eventually became Da Vinci's City Hall.

Americans were exposed to the series in Septemeber of 2005 when it began airing in syndication in the United States, mainly on Superstation WGN, where it was greeted with praise and has enjoyed excellent ratings.
