Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, Part 1

Part 1 of 2. The oppression of women around the world is examined by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, who's joined by Eva Mendes, Meg Ryan and Gabrielle Union on trips to Sierra Leone, Cambodia and Vietnam. With Mendes, he investigates gender-based violence in Sierra Leone. In Cambodia, he and Ryan meet an antitrafficking activist whom Kristof then joins on a mission to rescue underage girls from a brothel. And in Vietnam, he and Union meet teen girls who are taking literacy classes.
