| Two Black brothers - Willis and Arnold Jackson - come to live with the Drummond family: Phillip, a widower with a teenage daughter Kimberly. The Drummonds have a housekeeper, Mrs. Garrett.
Willis and Arnold's mother, who is deceased, was the Drummonds' original housekeeper. She wanted Mr. Drummond to look after her two boys in the event of her death.
