Recap

Izzy announces to the rest of the gang that Gennai has returned and wants to speak with them. They gather around a hologram of Gennai, who tells them that there is an eighth DigiDestined! They must find the eighth child in order to bring harmony to the worlds. Gennai can't remember the child's name, but he does know that he or she is in Japan. He then reveals that Myotismon knows of the eighth child and is preparing his forces to go to Japan.
Later, Agumon and Palmon sneak into Myotismon's castle to act as spies. Claiming to be "PunkAgumon" and "ReggaePalmon," they join Nanimon's training group. Meanwhile, DemiDevimon informs Myotismon that his forces are ready, but a new cat digimon named Gatomon mocks DemiDevimon's forces. She announces that she has collected her own forces.
A Bakemon then enters and tells Myotismon that they've prepared the room and it's ready for his inspection. After dismissing DemiDevimon and Gatomon, Myotismon enters a secret passage behind a bookshelf and enters a cavern containing a large door. He explains that the door is a gateway that will allow them to travel to the Real World.
Elsewhere, Nanimon's exhausting training exercises lead the digimon to decide to escape. When one mentions that drinking soda causes Nanimon to go crazy, a Numemon sneaks off to get some. He then parachutes some down, and Nanimon drinks them all, causing him to act crazily and collapse. Palmon pulls the rest of the gang up to the castle, but Gennai warns that his signal is useless in the castle, meaning that they're all alone. The castle has many twists and turns, and they find that gravity is even distorted in some places.
As Myotismon figures out the correct configuration of special cards to activate the gateway, his henchmen head through the castle to depart. The gang follows them to the cavern but arrives too late, Myotismon's henchman having already left. Nanimon and his group block the gang from interfering as Myotismon departs, but the digimon all digivolve to Champion level, scaring Nanimon and his group off. However, Gatomon appears, and they are no match for her. She then uses her tail ring to transform statues in the cavern into Devidramon, which begin hypnotizing the gang's digimon. However, they manage to break free of the effects, and Greymon digivolves into MetalGreymon. The Devidramon are destroyed, but Gatomon summons more as she goes to the door. As the digimon battle more Devidramon, the gang races to the gateway. However, it closes before they can get there, trapping them in the Digital World while Myotismon is in Japan...
