Enter the Dark Masters - Recap

From the top of Spiral Mountain, a multi-colored digimon views the people of the Real World through a giant telescope. He then tells his comrades, who are Puppetmon, MetalSeadramon, and Machinedramon, to prepare for the arrival of the DigiDestined. However, they decide that they want to have fun instead of a quick victory.
Elsewhere, the kids find themselves in a dark forest in the Digital World. In the sky, they see warps showing Earth. A small digimon then jumps onto Joe and hides afterward, so all of the gang's digimon digivolve to their Rookie forms. However, Kari stops them before they attack. The digimon comes out of hiding, revealing itself to be Chuumon. The gang asks where his friend Sukamon is, and he sadly begins to explain. Shortly after the gang left File Island, an earthquake occurred. Sukamon fell into a crevice and was never seen again. A powerful, evil force then began taking over, eventually rebuilding the Digital World to make it easier to conquer. Most of the Digital World has been rebuilt into the giant Spiral Mountain.
Chuumon reveals that the Dark Masters are the ones responsible, and the gang tells him that they'll take care of them. However, Chuumon disagrees, stating that the Dark Masters are too powerful. MetalSeadramon then appears and chases after the gang, so the digimon digivolve into their Champion forms. As could be expected, the Mega digimon is too strong for them to handle. After easily defeating them, he blasts at the ground, causing the gang to plummet.
They soon find themselves in a foggy area, and Angemon is the only conscious digimon. He begins to look around, but two energy blasts suddenly hit him, causing him to revert back into Patamon. Izzy identifies the attacking digimon as Machinedramon, who is also a Mega. All but Patamon digivolve to their Ultimate forms, but Machinedramon easily defeats them with his blasts. He then causes the ground to collapse, and the gang once again plummets.
Instead of hitting the ground, the gang suddenly stops in midair. WereGarurumon and Garudamon then begin fighting uncontrollably. Izzy notices strings attached to all of them, causing him to realize that they're acting as puppets! Another digimon appears and forces Izzy to look him up on his laptop. Izzy identifies him as Puppetmon, another Mega. Using his Puppet Pummel attack, Puppetmon causes the digimon to dedigivolve and then sends them all flying.
They soon awaken in a coliseum, where a clown balancing on a ball appears. He tells them a story of how the Dark Masters defeated the DigiDestined, causing TK to get angry. The clown then morphs into the Mega digimon known as Piedmon. Agumon and Gabumon warp-digivolve into their Mega forms, but they are too inexperienced. With only one attack, Piedmon defeats them. The other Dark Masters then arrive. Mimi starts crying, annoying Piedmon, so he chooses her to die first. However, when he throws his sword, Chuumon takes the hit and dies in Mimi's arms.
The Dark Masters prepare to destroy the gang, but a Pit Bomb suddenly explodes in front of them. While the Dark Masters are distracted by the blinding light, Piximon surrounds the gang in a bubble barrier, which flies away. The gang asks him why the eight of them aren't strong enough to win, and he replies that being together isn't enough. There is something else they must do, but they must discover it on their own.
The Dark Masters quickly discover the gang and attack, but the bubble barrier holds. After telling the gang to get to the top of Spiral Mountain, Piximon leaves the safety of the barrier to distract the enemy.
