Wanting to take KendoGarurumon out of the picture in order to get all of the gang's Spirits, Grumblemon creates a Golemon by pouring some sort of magic dust onto rocks. Elsewhere, Tommy is upset at himself for causing Zoe to lose her Spirit, but the others tell him that it wasn't his fault. JP wants to fight Grumblemon and get the Spirit back, but Koji wants to continue to the Forest Terminal. They argue, so Bokomon decides to take them to a fortune-telling digimon named Shamanmon. They find him in his temple, and he warns that they will fight an old foe, who now has a big friend. In meeting that friend, they will meet a friend who is a foe. He also says that the biggest task will be faced by Takuya and Tommy.
The ground begins shaking, and Grumblemon appears on the back of Golemon. As the gang goes down to confront the duo, a bright light suddenly appears from within the temple. Not noticing it, Tommy, Takuya, and JP Spirit Evolve, and Koji begins to Beast Spirit Evolve. However, Grumblemon throws down more of the magic dust, trapping Koji in a giant pentagram. Golemon has the upper hand at first, but the trio eventually beats him. Grumblemon then Beast Spirit Evolves into Gigasmon. Tommy/Kumamon is taken out, and Gigasmon steals his Spirit!
It seems that Gigasmon has them beaten, but suddenly Shamanmon's temple explodes, and a giant, dragon-like digimon emerges. It destroys Golemon and forces Gigasmon to retreat. Out of fear, the gang begins to run, but the digimon calls for help, claiming to be possessed by the Beast Spirit. Takuya/Agunimon realizes that it is Shamanmon, and Shamanmon explains that he was in the temple when the Beast Spirit appeared. When he touched it, he became possessed by it.
When Takuya/Agunimon gets too close, the Beast Spirit attacks. However, Shamanmon takes temporary control, allowing Takuya/Agunimon to land a hit. He then uses his D-Tector to free Shamanmon and take the Beast Spirit. However, Takuya/Agunimon then automatically Beast Spirit Evolves and loses control. He attacks the gang, forcing Koji to Beast Spirit Evolve. The two then prepare to battle...
