Recap

Takuya/BurningGreymon is too powerful, easily defeating JP/Beetlemon and Koji/KendoGarurumon. They retreat, but he begins making waste to the forest as he follows them. Takuya/BurningGreymon catches up and knocks down JP/Beetlemon. He prepares to destroy JP/Beetlemon, but Takuya manages to take temporary control. However, Takuya, influenced by the Beast Spirit, questions why JP/Beetlemon and Koji/KendoGarurumon are attacking if they are his friends. This causes him to lose control again.
Tommy sees JP/Beetlemon and Koji/KendoGarurumon are in trouble, reminding him of a time in the Real World where he saw another kid being picked on bullies. He wanted to help, but the bullies were too big for him. Tommy then tries to convince Takuya that they are his friends and that he's only attacking them out of fear, but Takuya/BurningGreymon grabs him. However, Tommy reminds him of the time when he himself was under the influence of Bakumon, which caused him to also attack the rest of the gang out of fear. Takuya manages to take control again and set Tommy down. He then reverts back to his human form.
After Takuya apologizes for what happened, the gang decides to head on and hopefully run into Grumblemon along the way so that they can get back the stolen Spirits. They walk through the forest and come across a hill with roots forming an interconnecting pattern. At the bottom are four "X"'s and one circle. They race, with Tommy and Takuya making it down first and stepping into the circle. However, the ground begins shaking and collapses beneath the "X"'s, trapping the rest of the gang in mud. To make matters worse, Grumblemon then appears!
Grumblemon then Beast Spirit Evolves into Gigasmon, so Takuya sends Tommy up a tree to hide. Since he can't control his Beast Spirit yet, Takuya instead Spirit Evolves into Agunimon. The two battle briefly, but Gigasmon grabs Tommy and runs off. Takuya/Agunimon follows but is knocked down from a great height, causing him to revert back to his human form. Too weak to fight Gigasmon as Agunimon, Takuya has no choice but to use his Beast Spirit. He fears that he will attack the gang again, but Zoe tells him to just remember that they are his friends.
Gigasmon dangles Tommy out of a tree and orders Takuya to trade his Beast Spirit for Tommy's life. Takuya refuses, so Gigasmon runs off with Tommy again. Takuya then Beast Spirit Evolves and saves Tommy. He knocks Gigasmon down, but wanting to lead him out of the forest to avoid burning it down, he Spirit Evolves to Agunimon and runs. Gigasmon gives chase, but once out of the forest, Takuya/Agunimon Beast Spirit Evovles back into BurningGreymon, after which he easily defeats the enemy. The fractal code of Gigasmon appears, so Takuya/BurningGreymon takes the Beast Spirit of Gigasmon and the Spirit of Kumamon. However, Grumblemon recovers before his own Spirit and the Spirit of Kazemon can be taken, and he then burrows to safety.
Later, Grumblemon is mad at himself for losing the Spirits. Ranamon, the Legendary Warrior of Water, Mercurymon, the Legendary Warrior of Steel, and Arbormon, the Legendary Warrior of Wood, then appear, telling him that his acts are making them look bad and that he needs to study his opponents. After Mercurymon states that their circle is complete, Grumblemon says that Duskmon, the Legendary Warrior of Darkness, isn't there with them...
