No Whamon - Recap

On the underwater Trailmon, Bokomon requests that Zoe let him keep the digi-egg, and she agrees. He then puts it into his belt. Moments later, they arrive in a cavern and get off the Trailmon, which departs. The gang runs down a tunnel, eventually coming to a larger cavern, with no visible exit.
Meanwhile, as Grumblemon and Arbormon travel through the underwater Trailmon tunnel, Ranamon and Mercurymon are back at their hideout. Ranamon asks Mercurymon what he plans to do with Seraphimon's code, but Mercurymon only laughs. He then watches Grumblemon in one of his mirrors and states that Grumblemon is trying in vain to retrieve his Beast Spirit. Ranamon mocks Grumblemon, but Mercurymon replies that she shouldn't be talking, seeing as she hasn't even found her Beast Spirit yet.
Back in the cavern, the gang searches to find an exit. Suddenly water shoots out of a pool, injuring Tommy and JP. A Whamon then appears, flopping as he yells that he wants to go home. Koji and Takuya Spirit Evolve and calm him down. A little while later, Whamon explains that one day in the ocean, he ate delicious, glowing plants. Grumblemon then arrived on the beach and ate the beach's fractal code, creating a giant crater that sucked Whamon into the cavern. Whamon is hysterical, and when he sees that JP is hurt, he apologizes. Zoe then suggests helping each other find a way out.
Suddenly the pool drains of water, leaving Whamon dry in the crater, and Grumblemon then burrows out! Grumblemon pulls out his vial and throws the magic dust everywhere, creating multiple circles of energy. Golemon then appear from them! However, Takuya/Agunimon and Koji/Lobomon easily defeat most of them, but when the rest of the gang gets cornered, Takuya/Agunimon and Koji/Lobomon are suddenly grabbed by Arbormon. After repeatedly being beaten, their fractal codes appear.
Even though they are injured, JP and Tommy Spirit Evolve. The duo destroys the Golemon, and JP/Beetlemon turns his attention to Grumblemon. However, as he attacks, the Golemon that Grumblemon is on the back of fires a blast. JP/Beetlemon is hit hard and reverts to his human form as he falls to the ground. As Arbormon Beast Spirit Evolves into Petaldramon, Grumblemon swings his hammer to hit JP. However, before he connects, Whamon fires a water blast. Grumblemon is sent flying into the cavern wall. A Beast Spirit appears from the water that Whamon fired, and Whamon realizes that the glowing plant that he ate must have been the Beast Spirit.
Grumblemon lunges for the Beast Spirit, but JP summons it to himself with his D-Tector. He then Beast Spirit Evolves into MetalKabuterimon. Unable to control himself, JP/MetalKabuterimon begins randomly firing, causing the cavern to begin to collapse. However, he manages to take control and fires a blast at Grumblemon, revealing his fractal code. After Spirit Evolving back into Beetlemon, JP/Beetlemon takes his code. Grumblemon's Spirit goes into JP/Beetlemon's D-Tector, and Zoe's Spirit returns to her. The digi-egg of Grumblemon then flies away. As Zoe thanks JP, the cavern begins to collapse and water rushes in.
Moments later, the gang is in the dark. They think they are dead, but light suddenly appears. They realize that they are inside Whamon's mouth. Now back in the ocean, he says that they should be reaching "the island" soon.
