Alone But Never Alone - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Ranamon is furious at Mercurymon for calling a retreat. However, Mercurymon explains that the gang has become aware of the true power of nature that dwells within their Legendary Spirits. Elsewhere, Duskmon wonders why he showed mercy towards Koji and vows to find out who he is.
Meanwhile, the gang is walking along the side of a mountain, but suddenly the ground begins to crack. All but Bokomon and Neemon are then sucked up into Mercurymon's fortress in the sky. They arrive in a strange tunnel, and at one end is an giant eye. A hand then comes out of the wall and pushes JP into the eye, causing him to disappear. He ends up in a wasteland, and a giant digimon named Volcamon then appears! He attacks JP for invading his space, but JP dodges it. Volcamon then begins telling him that the others aren't truly his friends and that they pushed him into the portal to get rid of him. However, JP doesn't believe him and then Spirit Evolves.
The two seem evenly matched, but Volcamon begins emitting sonic waves from his microphone, which subdue JP/Beetlemon. However, JP/Beetlemon dodges his next attack and then easily defeats him, after which he takes Volcamon's fractal code. He then begins having doubts about his friendships with the rest of the gang, and a mysterious voice reminds him of the time that it was raining at school but nobody would let him walk with them under their umbrella. His own shadow seems to take on a life of its own, taunting JP/Beetlemon and pushing him over the edge. He begins destroying everything that his shadow touches, but suddenly spires of rocks begin coming up from the ground. One hits him, knocking him down.
Back in the tunnel, Takuya senses that JP is in trouble, but suddenly hands reach out from the walls and try to grab all of them. The gang Spirit Evolves and destroys the hands. They then realize that JP must be on the other side of the eyeball. Elsewhere, the ground beneath JP/Beetlemon begins rising. Lasers connect between the spires, forming a wrestling ring. JP/Beetlemon's shadow then transforms into a dark copy of him. The gang then appears in the audience, taunting him. The dark Beetlemon states that he represents his past, present, and future, but JP/Beetlemon replies that if he can beat the old him, then he can rebuild a new one.
JP/Beetlemon's attacks are useless, and the dark Beetlemon causes him to revert to his human form. The rest of the gang then arrives through the eyeball, making JP realize that they truly are his friends. He then Beast Spirit Evolves, but so does the dark version of him! Although he was told by his dark half that destroying him would destroy himself, JP/MetalKabuterimon destroys the dark MetalKabuterimon. After the explosion, all the copies of the gang disappear, and JP is lying on the ground. They rush to him, and he apologizes for doubting their friendship. Suddenly more arms appear from the ground and push each of the gang into separate eyeballs!
