O, Brother, Who Art Thou? - Recap

Koji/Beowulfmon follows Duskmon to a group of buildings inside of mountains. When he enters one, Duskmon demands to know who he is. Koji/Beowulfmon asks if he is afraid, since he is hiding in the shadows. Duskmon replies that it is destiny for darkness to hide from the light until the darkness is ready to destroy it.
The two begin battling. However, Koji/Beowulfmon once again sees a boy inside of Duskmon, and Duskmon sees Koji's human form. This distracts them both, causing their attacks to explode. The building is destroyed as they are sent flying backwards. As the rest of the gang begins their search for Koji, Duskmon emerges from the rubble. Koji/Beowulfmon then attacks. As they fight, they fall down a hole and land in water.
Elsewhere, the gang is lost. However, Patamon claims to know of Koji's location and takes the lead. Meanwhile, the shadow of Cherubimon watches as Koji/Beowulfmon and Duskmon continue their battle in the water. He then senses the rest of the gang and departs to take care of them. As the gang is walking, large spires suddenly emerge from the ground and hurtle towards them.
Back in the underground cavern, Duskmon manages to get the upper hand and prepares to destroy Koji/Beowulfmon. However, he sees Koji's human form and hesitates. Koji/Beowulfmon takes advantage and attacks, destroying Duskmon's swords, but before he can destroy Duskmon, Cherubimon steps in by hitting him with a lightning-like attack. After hitting Koji/Beowulfmon with a dark sphere, Cherubimon then takes Duskmon in his hands.
Meanwhile, the gang finds themselves sealed inside a structure made of the spires. Takuya Fusion Evolves while the rest Spirit Evolve. However, their attacks don't even made a dent! They then see Patamon trying to make a tunnel, since the structure is only ground level, and join in.
Elsewhere, Cherubimon decides to show Duskmon the day he first came to the Digital World. Duskmon turns into the boy that Koji has been seeing inside of him - the same boy that Takuya saw when he returned to the Real World. People begin appearing, and he asks if they are his family. When he sees Koji, the boy chases after him, but Koji turns into smoke and disappears. Upset, the boy begins crying and asks why nobody pays attention to him. Cherubimon appears, replying that he has his attention. He also adds that the darkness of the boy's heart drew him to him. Once Cherubimon releases the darkness within the boy's heart, he will become one with the Spirit of Darkness. The boy begins clutching his head in pain, changing back and forth between Duskmon and his human form. However, he then changes into a chained up Beast Spirit, which breaks free.
As Duskmon Beast Spirit Evolves into Velgemon, the gang digs out from the structure. They hear screaming in the distance and head off to help Koji. Back in the underground cavern, Koji/Beowulfmon attacks Velgemon, but Duskmon's Beast Spirit is too powerful. Velgemon then begins surrounding Koji/Beowulfmon in a glowing sphere. Koji/Beowulfmon manages to jump out in time, but he is still hit by the exploding sphere.
Velgemon flies to the giant crater, where Koji has reverted to his human form. As Velgemon swoops down to kill him, Koji tries to move but is in too much pain to. However, his D-Tector falls from his pocket and fires a beam of light at Velgemon's head. Ophanimon tells Velgemon to remember his life as a human, and he has a flashback of being with his grandmother in the hospital. She calls him Koichi and tells him that he has a brother named Koji. He then has another flashback of following Koji to the train station on the day the gang first went to the Digital World. The elevator doors close before he can get to them, so he uses the stairs. However, he trips on the way down and hits the ground. As the flashback ends, the beam of light from Koji's D-Tector stops, and Velgemon then flies away.
