| Phil's line "Don't let your guard down because of a pair of big goo-goo eyes" was originally "Don't let your guard down because of a pair of big, blue eyes". By the time the scene was in color, Meg's eyes were purple. | Hades was scripted as a slow, menacing character until James Woods auditioned for the role and impressed the casting directors with his rapid-fire style. The script was rewritten but, Woods ad-libbed many of his lines. | Ricky Martin voiced Hercules in the Spanish language version. | This is the first Disney animated movie to be based on Mythology instead of fairy tales or folk tales. | A direct-to-video sequel, Hercules II: The Trojan War, was once planned but later cancelled. | During the scene in the movie where Hercules is rescuing two children from a cave in in a gorge (which was actually a staged calamity to lure Hercules into danger) one of the children can be heard saying; "Someone call IX I I", which are the Roman numerals for 9-1-1. |

| Man: The end is coming. Can you feel it?
Phil: Yes, yes. Thank you for the info. Yes, we'll just ponder that for a while. (to Hercules) Just stare at the sidewalk, kid. Come on. Don't make eye contact. People here are nuts. That's because they live in a city full of turmoil. | Meg: Hey it wasn't my fault it was some wonder boy Hercules!
Panic: Hercules, why does that name ring a bell?
Pain: I don't know. Maybe we owe him money? | Hermes: Fabulous party. You know, I haven't seen this much love in a room since Narcissus discovered himself. | Hades: I can't believe this guy! I throw everything I've got at him and- What... are... those...?
Pain: (is wearing Air-Herc sandals) I don't know, I thought it made me look kind of dashy.
Hades: I have 24 hours to get rid of this bozo, or the entire scheme I've been setting up for 18 years goes up in smoke and you are wearing his merchandise?!
Panic: (is drinking Hercules soda) He he... Thirsty?
Hades: AHHHHH! (buildings shake and civilians below look to see what happened)
Meg: Looks like your game is over Wonder-Boy is hitting every curve you throw at him.
Hades: Oh yeah. I wonder if I haven't been throwing the right curves at him, Meg my sweet.
Meg: Don't even go there.
Hades: He's got to have a weakness. I mean everyone's got a weakness. I mean for Pandora it was the box thing, and for the Trojans, hey they got on the wrong horse. We just need to find out Wonder Boy's.
Meg: I've done my part use your little imps.
Hades: They couldn't handle him as a baby. I need someone who can handle him as a man.
Meg: Hey, I've sworn off man handling.
Hades: Well that's good because that's how you got into this jam in the first place! You sold your soul to me to save your boyfriend's life. And how does this creep repay you? By running off with some babe. He hurt you real bad didn't he, Meg?
Meg: I've learned my lesson, ok.
Hades: This is exactly why I think you are going to take a leap at my new offer. You find out Wonder Boy's week link and I give you, what you crave for most in the entire cosmos. Your freedom. | Hercules: You were right all along, Phil, dreams are for rookies.
Phil: Givin' up is for rookies. I came back 'cause I'm not quttin' on you. I'm willing to go the distance. How 'bout you? | Hercules: You like making deals. Take me in Meg's place.
Hades: The son of my hated rival trapped forever in a river of death.
Hercules: Going once.
Hades: Hmm. Is there a downside to this?
Hercules: Going twice!
Hades: Okay, okay, okay. You get her out. She goes, you stay.
Hercules: (jumps into the river of death)
Hades: Oh wait, you know what slipped my mind? You'll be dead before you can get to her. That's not a problem, is it? | Hercules: Father, this is the moment I have always dreamed of. But, a life without Meg, even in an imortal life would be empty. I... I wish to stay on Earth with her. I finally know where I belong. | Zeus: Hercules, if you can prove yourself a true hero on Earth, your godhood will be restored!
Hercules: A true hero. Great! Uh, exactly how do you become a true hero?
Zeus: First, you must seek out Philoctetes, the trainer of heroes.
Hercules: Seek out Philoctetes. Right. I'll... (he falls off Zeus' palm)
Zeus: Whoa! Hold your horses! Which reminds me... (Zeus whistles and the Pegasus flies through an opening in the roof) Ha-ha! You probably don't remember Pegasus but you two go way back, son
Pegasus: (sniffs Hercules, then bonks foreheads with him and licks him)
Hercules: Oh, Pegasus!
Zeus: He is a magnificient horse. With the brain of a bird.
Hercules: I'll find Philoctetes and become a true hero!
Zeus: That's the spirit!
Hercules: I won't let you down, father!
Zeus: Good luck, son. | Hades: Ladies! Hah. I am so sorry that I'm...
The Fates: Late.
Clotho: We knew you would be.
Atropos: We know everything.
Lachesis: Past.
Atropos: Present.
Lachesis: And future (aside, to Pain) Indoor plumbing. It's gonna be big. | The Fates: In 18 years precisely,
The planets will align ever so nicely.
Hades: Ay, verse. Oy.
The Fates: The time to act will be at hand,
Unleash the Titans, your monstrous band.
Hades: Mmm-hmm. Good, good.
The Fates: Then the once-proud Zeus will finally fall,
And you, Hades, will rule all!
Hades: Yes! Hades rules!
The Fates: A word of caution to this tale.
Hades: Excuse me?
The Fates: Should Hercules fight, you will fail.
Hades: (shouting at the top of his lungs) WHAT!? (calm) Okay, fine, fine. I'm cool. I'm fine. | Hercules: Halt!
Nessus: Step aside, two legs.
Hercules: Pardon me, my good, uh, uh..... sir. I'll have to ask you to release that young...
Megara: Keep movin', junior
Hercules: ...lady. But you-- are- aren't you a damsel in distress?
Megara: I am a damsel, I am in distress. I can handle this. Have a nice day. | Hercules: Are you, uh, all right, Miss, uh--
Megara: Megara. My friends call me Meg. At least they would if I had any friends. So, did they give you a name along with all those rippling pectorials?
Hercules: Uh, I'm, um, uh--
Megara: Are you always this articulate? |

| When teenage Hercules knocks over the pillar, starting a domino effect, the pillars start collapsing away from the middle. In the end, the pillars are collapsing towards the middle. | Hercules puts his hands in the water trying to reach Meg's soul. Seconds later, when he jumps into the water, he is a hundred feet up on a cliff, as is Hades. |

| Hades: Mr. High and Mighty; Mr. Hey you, Get off of my could...
Hades refers to Zeus as Mister "Hey You, Get Off My Cloud", which is a reference to the Rolling Stones song, "Get Off My Cloud," as well as the opening line to the song "M.E.T.H.O.D. Man" by The Wu-Tang Clan. | When Phil and Hercules first enter Phil's hut, Hercules bangs his head on what Phil tells him is the mast of the Argo. In Greek mythology, Jason, the captain of the Argo, was killed when the mast hit his head. | Hermes is shown during the "A Star Is Born" song playing the keyboard. Paul Shaffer, who provides the voice for Hermes, plays the keyboard as his primary instrument on the "Late Show with David Letterman". | To "go the distance" is a term in boxing meaning to last all 15 rounds. | Hermes gives Hera a bouquet of flowers, a play on F.T.D. Florists, who use him as their mascot. | Visual: Air Herc Sandals
"Air Herc", a brand of sandal seen throughout the film the Hercules promotes are a spoof of the shoe brand "Air Jordan". | During the song "I Won't Say I'm in Love," the Muses are portrayed as singing busts with one bust laying broken on the ground. This is a direct reference to Disneyland's The Haunted Mansion. | A beverage that Hercules sponsors is named "Herculade", a spoof of Gatorade. |
| |
| Phil cleans himself up using a lion's skin that once belonged to Scar from "The Lion King". Ironically the artist who drew Hercules also drew Scar. | During the "A Star Is Born" sequence, a constellation of Marilyn Monroe can be seen. However, in the original trailer, it was Sebastian from The Little Mermaid. |
