Buzzword quoting Chief Executive Gus Hedges tells the team how new newscaster Sally Smedley is being brought in to replace Susan. Compulsive gambler Dave Charnley runs a book on what newscaster Henry Davenport's first words to Sally will be and we see how the relationship between the two newscasters, Henry and Sally, develops.

News That Week: Evidence into police corruption over the case of the 'Birmingham 6' is gathering momentum and western forces mobilize against Saddam Hussain's invasion of Kuwait.
Synopsis: Editor George, who is getting calls in the office from his builders, is concerned over Damien's attempts to liven up the previous nights report on Mad Cow Disease and the team are concerned as to whether they should report a chemical spill in Scotland that has been attributed to a company owned by Sir Royston Merchant, Globelink News' new owner.
George is taken to one side for an informal chat with CEO Gus who hands him a report from management consultants brought in to review GLN's management strategies and Dave Charnley is tasked with updating the obituaries files so decides to run a book on who the next candidate will be to have their obituary aired.
