Canadian mountie Benton Fraser had initially come to Chicago to track his father's killer but soon found a home. Partnered with Ray Kowalski (posing as Ray Vecchio), Fraser continues to track criminals through Chicago and sometimes even in Canada.

Spun-off from the 1994-1996 series Due South, this second incarnation was a joint effort between CTV and international funders. In the United States, the spin-off and the original series were treated as three seasons of one series.
