Ellery Queen: The Adventure of Miss Aggie's Farewell Performance
Radio star Vera Bethune is poisoned during a taping of her show. At the hospital, she asks Ellery and the Inspector to stay on the case but soon afterwards she's found shot to death. Simon Brimmer is on the scene too desperately trying to beat the Queens to the solution so as to win back a lost sponsor for his radio program.

Episode Notes
John Hillerman and Betty White would later co-star together on the short-lived CBS sitcom The Betty White Show.

Eve Arden's radio role in this episode is strongly based on her TV role in the 1950's sitcom Our Miss Brooks.

Bert Parks was the longtime host of the Miss America pageant.

This was the final acting role for John McGiver. Sadly, he died of a heart attack on September 9, 1975, a month and 10 days before the episode aired.

Ellery: It's about Vera Bethune, Mr. Warren.
Warren: I already gave.

Warren: (about why he broke up with Vera) Why tie your wagon to a dead horse?

Ellery: What about your diet?
Inspector Queen: The Constitution of the United States expressly forbids cruel and unusual punishment.

Ellery: Dad, we'd better get down to the station right away. Simon's gonna accuse the wrong person.

Inspector Queen: You're paying suspects?
Brimmer: Unfortunately, Inspector, my suspects are members of the radio actors union. I have no choice.

Pearl: (to Brimmer) Don't call me, I'll call you!
