Episode Notes
Gary Burghoff makes a rare non-M*A*S*H appearance in this episode playing a character who's quite different from his boyish M*A*S*H personna Radar O'Reilly.

Mel Ferrer and Dana Wynter, who play husband and wife in this episode, had previously played the same in the 1959 movie Fraulein.

Episode Quotes
Drew: (to the culprit) So it was you.

Inspector Queen: (to Ellery) At least you finished your book. All I did was find trout smarter than I am.

Inspector Queen: Im my book revenge is still spelled with a capital "R".

Marvin: I know exactly what I was doing five years ago.
Ellery: What?
Marvin: Seven years.

Alyssa: Have you ever worked in clay?
Ellery: No, my medium is paper and typewriter ribbons.

Ellery: So you think Buck did it too?
Alyssa: Doesn't everyone?

Childs: I take it that's a threat.
Buck: You take it anyway you want to.

Ellery: Let's go, Dad.
Inspector Queen: Let's go! It's almost Inner Sanctum time! Don't you ever get inspired while the sun is shining?

Inspector Queen: Everytime I turn around in this case I step over Buck Nolan.

Inspector Queen: Velie, put the cuffs on 'em.
Velie: Which one?
Inspector Queen: Both of 'em.

Cultural References
The Inner Sanctum mentioned by Inspector Queen in the dialogue was a popular suspense radio program during the 1940s.
