With a very-hard-to-impress Queen Mother (Poltergeist's Beatrice Straight), it doesn't look like the Prince (Friends' Tom Conti) will ever find the perfect princess, even though he's interviewed every single one in the land.

One rainy night a lost, rather nutty woman named Alecia-Princess Alecia, that is--shows up at the castle and asks for shelter. She couldn't be more different than what the Prince is looking for in a wife. Or is she?

The Queen is definitely not happy with her son's choice for a bride and devises a test-a real princess will be able to feel the tiny pea that the Queen has put between a stack of mattresses. Will Alecia pass?
