A kid whose dad owns a newspaper company ends up writing dead end obituaries but also ends up reliving the way the victims died.
A very routine plot used many times in Hollywood that is the story of one person reliving the death of someone else.
A kid, Peter, whose dad owns one of the news companies is stuck with a dead end job writing obituaries (what a pun that is). Soon though Peter discovers that he is reliving the deaths of the victims which makes him happy for a sec but when his boss Miss. Brandis doesn't like like it, it turns out be more of a curse.
You can guess how this story ends (doesn't take a genius). However, what drew my attention was the amount of violence for this episode which by Network/Syndication standards for 1988 were off the grid of what they usually showed on television.
Like in one scene, we see a guy literally get his heart ripped out, then in another scene a rich bastard gets his arm cut off then the camera cuts away to his skin being shown.
The second half of the story deals with the guy's girlfriend Emily and how she deals with the boyfriend's death.
We also see the character of Annie, deal with the unexpected death of her friends and meeting a mysterious man named Johnnie who isn't what he claims to be.
This story does have a happy ending so in a way both stories balance themselves out. One is about death, the other is about the reaction to death Freddy Krueger style but still pulls out an ending to leave you happy.
Thanks to the great service of AOL Video you can watch this episode and other Freddy episodes online for free which is great because a lot of the bootlegs being traded are poor in quality. Since there is no official release except for the first few episodes it's worth a look.
