A family of video-game characters leads a normal life once the game is turned off in this computer-generated comedy. First up: The Smashenburn family gets an ill-mannered pet, which soon causes problems.
Rip becomes jealous and insecure when he learns his wife makes four times his salary, forcing him to see a sports psychologist. Also: Alice becomes an icon among popular girls at school.
Raquel tries to be supermom by taking on work at Billy's school; Turbo's drinking problem gets him in trouble; Rip sets Alice up on a date with a man from his pit crew, then decides that it was a mistake.
Rip forces Billy to join him on a father-son camping trip to improve their relationship, and Turbo tags along to get away from his ex-girlfriend (Jennifer Coolidge). Meanwhile, Alice gets grounded for trying “magic cookies,” only to learn that her mother did the same thing when she was a teen.
Alice fails a crucial standardized test and Raquel tries to help her get another chance. Billy falls for a girl at school and heeds his father's advice on how to win her heart.
Raquel's ex-convict mother comes back after 25 years and forges a relationship with the kids---much to Raquel's chagrin. Elsewhere, Turbo fights dirty to win a backyard wrestling match with the other neighborhood dogs.
