The Great Kahuna - Recap

When Gidget confides to her father she's in love with a world-traveling surfer bum called Kahuna, Mr. Lawrence suggests she invite him home to dinner. Kahuna arrives for dinner in a suit and talks of wanting nothing more in life than a little house, a wife, and a regular job in an electronics plant. Gidget is stunned and disappointed with Kahuna's "creepy suburban dream." Alone for a moment, she suddenly realizes that her father and Kahuna have conspired to cure her of her infatuation by making Kahuna appear the typical middle class bore. She turns the tables on Kahuna by telling him she wants nothing more than an ordinary man who dreams of putting down roots. Kahuna hurries out of the house as fast as he can.
