Episode Summary |
| |
After a harrowing storm, Gilligan and the Skipper feel it's their duty to set off on a bamboo raft to find help. While on their way back to Hawaii, the pair encounter a large shark, in which Gilligan destroys the raft while fighting the shark off.

This episode was actually the second produced. The original pilot was not included in the airing package, due to the major cast changes. Tina Louise, Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells were not in the original production.
| The first season was shot in black-and-white.
| The opening titles end differently in this season than they would in the later seasons: instead of introducing "The Professor and Mary Ann" in the opening, the singer just says "the movie star...and the rest!" Dawn Wells and Russell Johnson would be credited in the closing credits for the first season.
