Lorelai suspects that Luke's intentions toward her have become serious, but she doesn't have time to dwell on it as she prepares for the opening of the Dragonfly Inn. When Jason arrives at the Inn to convince Lorelai that their breakup was a mistake, Luke tries to declare his true feelings for her.

Michel: That wouldn't be at all eccentric.

Lane: The guy your grandmother brought by?

Lorelai: Well, first of all, it was supposed to be in a retirement home.

Rory: Stop it!
Lorelai: Rory!
Rory: I hate you for ruining this for me!

Jason: I didn't look at it that way. I looked at it as a cooling-off period.

| At the diner, Luke pours Lorelai and Rory's coffee. Luke stops pouring, but the pouring noise continues.
| When Lorelai crashes into the table at the diner, two of the bottles, a red one and a yellow one, remain standing. However, when the shot returns to the table, the red and yellow bottle are knocked over.

Barbra Streisand is a well-known singer and actress. Roslyn Kind, Streisand's half-sister, is an actress who hasn't achieved the same degree of stardom as her half-sibling.

Hayley Mills starred as identical twins in the 1961 version of The Parent Trap, the movie in which her characters plot to reunite their divorced parents, much like Lorelai is attempting to do with Emily and Richard.
