God, the Devil and Bob (3 Fans)
 |
"God, the Devil and Bob" Summary |
| |
God (James Garner) decides that he wants to cause a great flood so that he can wipe out humanity and start all over again. He gives Earth one chance, allowing the Devil (Alan Cumming) to pick the one to decide the Earth's fate. The Devil chooses Bob Allman (French Stewart), a regular working stiff.
Each episode revolved around God giving Bob an assignment to do -- whether it is talking to his neighbor about her adultery or trying and get gratuitous sex taken off of TV. Also featured were Bob's family -- his wife, Donna; their bratty teenage daughter, Megan; and their young son, Andy -- the only one who believed that Bob was friends with God and the Devil. Smeck was the Devil's minion, a demon who always got stuck with the brunt of the dirty work.
"God, the Devil and Bob," was surrounded by controversy and only lasted two weeks on the air in the USA. 22 NBC network affiliates refused to air the series, thus NBC canceled it after having aired only three episodes. It has since been aired around the world and released on DVD in the USA and Canada.
