Gary's life is becoming increasingly complicated as he endeavours to commute between performing at the piano in 1941 to spectacular applause, to the Willsden Wildean's local repertory company where he is starring opposite Yvonne as the hero in a romantic play.

When Gary consults a 1990s doctor about his migraine headaches and panic attacks, the doctor prescribes a strong sedative which Gary shares around with his 1940s London friends during the next air raid.

Gary plays and sings Love Is The Sweetest Thing as a tribute to the great Al Bowlly, the legendary singer of the thirties who was killed in an air raid on London on the 17th April, 1941. Thís song, composed for him by Ray Noble, was one of Al Bowlly's most popular hits.
