Howard loses the Father of the Year award to Fred Brill, who is known as the referee in "The Duel" and is Richie's age. It is possible, though, that "Fred" is the name of both father and son.

Ralph and Potsie say the reason that a section of Inspiration Point is called the Alamo is that "it's so much fun to remember." This is a reference to the legendary battle at the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas and its resulting slogan, "Remember the Alamo."
