Peter Valchek plays for Team East, a Soviet-bloc collection of tennis players. He also smuggles diamonds, a fact that does not escape the eyes of security officer Denisovich, who dies for his discovery. Against this backdrop, Team East player Katrina Bukowski wants to defect, something Team West player Brent Saunders is more than willing to help her do. But Peter sees an opportunity: he exploits Saunders's suspicious behavior to misdirect McGarrett's murder inquiry.
