1 :01x01 - Pilot (Sep/14/2005)
Jason Payne is a superstar attorney at a prestigious Los Angeles firm, whose nonstop drive toward professional advancement backfires when his wife Laurie kicks him out of the house and, to make a bad day worse, he has a nervous breakdown. After three months at a "wellness center," Jason finds himself with no job, no place to live, and no support system. Enter Shultz, an unkempt, unpredictable sufferer of explosive disorder, assigned to be outpatient "buddies" with Jason by their mutual therapist, Dr. Robinson. A low-rent lawyer used to representing deviants and petty criminals, Shultz eagerly latches on to a very reluctant Jason, injecting himself into all aspects of Jason's personal and professional life. For Jason and Shultz, what begins as a bumpy alliance gradually turns amicable, each helping steer the other toward against-all-odds legal victories in a pair of cases. Ultimately they hang up their shingle together as "Payne & Shultz"and set out to take on underdog clients while reclaiming their sanity in the "Pilot" episode of HEAD CASES premiering Wednesday, Sept. 14 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

2 :01x02 - S(elf) Help (Sep/21/2005)
When a rebounding Payne is reluctant to commit to another against-all-odds client, Shultz finds a familiar thread that ties him to the case and client, who is also a victim of explosive disorder. The client, a member of an environmental activist group called "Elf," is accused of blowing up his father-in-law's car dealership and the evidence is stacked against him. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Payne, Shultz has invited paralegal Lou Albertini (Richard Kind), a former attorney who was disbarred for robbing a bank, to join the firm. Seeking balance in the firm, a determined Payne recruits his former "Hawkins & Bates" secretary, Nicole. As Payne's tenuous family relationship continues, the new legal team must come together and apply unique investigative methods to keep their client free in the "S(elf) Help" episode of HEAD CASES Wednesday, Sept. 21 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

3 :01x03 - Malpractice Makes Perfect (Unaired)
When Payne is sued for malpractice by the client he was representing at the time of his breakdown, he reluctantly allows Shultz to lead his counsel. A lawyer from Payne's old firm, "Hawkins & Bates," makes damaging accusations about Payne & Shultz's work. When Laurie and Jason (Shultz, too, of course) attend Ryan's elementary school spelling bee, a contestant is "wrongly" disqualified and a litigious situation surfaces. Shultz, a former spelling bee aficionado, enlists Lou to help represent the disqualified student. Meanwhile, Jason and Laurie continue to struggle to balance work and family as their new lives grow in opposite directions in the "Malpractice Makes Perfect" episode of HEAD CASES airing Wednesday, Sept. 28 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

4 :01x04 - In the Club (Unaired)
When people start swinging after a round of golf, Payne scores another challenging case and convinces a doubting Lou that they have winning shot, and the legal shenanigans begin. Meanwhile, Shultz heads a case when his down-and-out (and drunk) friend Max resurfaces after faking his death seeking royalties for his lost "artwork." Although Max has committed fraud for faking his death, Shultz sets out to prove that he deserves a fair deal. An overcompensating Payne throws an amazing party for his son Ryan, and while the kids have a blast, Shultz hooks up with one of Laurie's hot friends in the "In the Club" episode of HEAD CASES airing Wednesday, Oct. 5 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX
