Leonard Nimoy introduces us to the Amityville house on 112 Ocean Avenue in Long Island, New York by first talking about the movie version of it with James Brolin and Margot Kidder. Nimoy tells the viewer that while most people think the movie is fiction it’s based on a true story. He then talks about the meaning of Amityville which means friendship and then talks about the actual Amityville House where George and Kathy Lutz lived.
Nimoy briefly mentions that a series of murders happened in the house but the Lutz’s decided to buy it anyhow. Nimoy then talks about a priest who was a friend of the Lutz who claims that the house was possessed. Nimoy then talks about how the priest and the Lutz’s saw flies in a specific area of the house in the dead of winter. The priest then mentions mysterious blisters he received while blessing the house. The priest then claims how whenever he tried to contact the Lutz’s, the line would also have interference preventing any communication.
The scene changes to Nimoy explaining the scary situations that plagued the Lutz’s including the fact they often in nightmares relived the murders in the house that happened before. George Lutz tells his side of things and explains that he always cold in the house and that he always had to stay by the fireplace to stay warm. Kathy Lutz then shows a mysterious red room that was never in the house. Next, the testimony of the Lutz’s little girl, Missy, is given. Missy gives account of an imaginary friend shaped in the form of a pig. The friend is nicknamed “Jodie” but the Lutz’s nightmares continue. We also get a brief interview with author Jay Anson who would become the author of the book “The Amityville Horror”. Kathy Lutz describes one night where her face aged rapidly and her hair turned white. The Lutz’s then tried blessing every room in the house but that just seemed to make matters worse.
Nimoy then says how after 28 days living in that house the Lutz’s left the house leaving behind their possessions. As the Lutz’s decided to leave they decided to learn more about the history of the house. Nimoy now explains more in details the murders that occurred in the house. Ronald Defeo allegedly murdered his entire family and blamed it on demonic spirits telling him to kill. Nimoy then explains how before the house was built there were tribes leaving there. Tribes that often exorcised or condemn members of their tribe that were evil or insane. The connection is made that perhaps these evil spirits is what led to this house being possessed. Nimoy also briefly mentions the investigations done by Ed and Lorraine Warren who were psychics and investigators of the unknown. In the end of the episode, Nimoy states that the nightmare is over for the Lutz.
