| A lot of information about the Titanic

!!!!!! This review contains spoilers !!!!!!
The classic episodes explores the sinking of the famous liner.
Another ambitious episodes. A complete look at what caused the sinking of the Titanic. This episode speaks with the survivors aboard the liner, has interviews with experts from the Titanic Historical Society (which is still around today), an interview with Naval Author Peter Radfield and explores the structure of the vessel to see whether it was "unsinkable".
Before James Cameron made big money in "Titanic" there were already a couple of movies based on the ill fated liner and special but this "In Search Of" episode in a span of thirty minutes really condenses all the information you would want about the liner.
The Titanic Historical Society is still around to this day and this episodes has interviews from people from there talking about what sank the Titanic.
It's clear after hearing all the evidence here (a radio operator sleeping on the job, warnings of Icebergs not heeded, The Titanic not slowing down, the dependence on lookouts beings used) that the sinking of The Titanic could have been easily prevented using common sense, initiative and simple direction.
There's a naval author that's interviewed but I found his testimony to be a bit lax as he doesn't seem to want to confront the fact that part of the reason this ship sank was human error and lack of initiative.
The other people interviewed including (who was seven when she was onboard The Titanic at the time) survivor Eva Hart (who is now deceased) is more useful.
It's also clear that the "plan" and chaos leading to the deaths of 1,000 plus passengers would have been avoided had there been better use of the lifeboats. If I remember well, the lifeboats weren't fully occupied which led to a lot of lives being lost.
Another controversial aspect which is explored is whether other ships in the area could have saved the passengers. Eventually, Nimoy states that while a couple of ships were in the area, none of them would have made in time.
It's tough to say without being there if that is actually true but this episode still shows that the Titanic tragedy could have been avoided.
