The shows theme is suppose spell Morse's name in Morse Code.

Inspector Morse is based on novels by Colin Dexter.

Inspector Morse's first name is Endeavor. This is revealed in the episode "Death Is Now My Neighbour".

There is a spin-off series to Inspector Morse, called Lewis. This has Lewis as the main character and he an assistant much like how it is in Morse, with Morse as the main character and Lewis as his assistant.
