"It's Like, You Know..." Summary |
| |
It's Like, You Know... tries to capture the feeling of living in Los Angeles from the viewpoint of an outsider - a recently transplanted New Yorker, named Arthur Garment (played by Chris Eigeman). Garment moves to California to further his writing career, and stays with an old college friend to observe the West Coast culture. Much of the humor springs from mocking the elite in Los Angeles, whose wealthy, idle lifestyle seems so different from the Manhattan existence Garment left behind. He doesnât fit in, which the Californians never let him forget, nor does he want to at first. He frequently comments on the ridiculousness of the upper-class Los Angeles culture, not bothering to conceal his contempt. Gradually, through his friendships there, he finds himself increasingly adapting and even starting to appreciate the laid-back attitudes of the Southern California lifestyle.
