Shelley Hack returns to a television series as co-star of a drama about an upwardly mobile couple. In Jack and
Mike, Hack plays Jackie Shea, a popular newspaper columnist who "goes native" with the stories she writes. Her
husband, Mike Allen (Tom Mason), is a young entrepreneur on the rise. They love each other and they love their work. Naturally, some strains come about, but they do their best to overcome them. In the opener, Jackie's writing a column on sex and Mike prepares for the opening of his newest restaurant.
Jackie deals with inequities in the organ donor program. While Jackie helps man in need of heart, Mike's old musician buddy becomes sick.
Jackie investigates reports of professors who give college athletes favorable grades so they can remain on the team.
