Episode Quotes

(About Gov. Croque.)
Emilia: He’s behind bars with every islander he’s ever imprisoned.
Jack: Yep, it was nice knowing him.

Jack: It’s always darkest before it’s totally black…. That didn’t come out right.

Jack: You threw the entire circus in here?
Gov. Croque: Their clown act was a thinly veiled attack on the aristocracy.

Jack: Well it looks like the old ball and chain stuck ya in the ball and chain.

Cultural References

Jack: Why? You think he was framed like the Mona Lisa?

The Mona Lisa is famed painting by renowned artist Leonardo de Vinci in the 16th century. It is one of the most famous paintings in the world and is on display at the Musée du Louvre in Paris.

Jack: Life?! That’s a cereal not a sentence.

Life cereal is made from whole grain oats by the Quaker Oats Company. It first appeared on the market in 1961. A cinnamon version was later created and distributed in 1978.

Jack: Kiki here was just showing us how to do the Macarena.

The Macarena is a song sung by Los del Rios. It became very popular because of the dance of the same name that was done with it. It became a staple at about every wedding one attended.
