 "Kindred: The Embraced" Summary

Kindred-The Embraced , a series, based on the White Wolf role playing game, called Vampire-The Masquerade, involved the lives and loves of a vampire society based in San Fransisco. The leader of this society, hidden from prying humans, was Julian Luna, the vampire Prince of San Fransisco. He governed over the vampires that were grouped into clans. Each of these clans were of a distinctive type and carried their own leaders called Primogens. The Venture clan (of which Julian Luna was a member) were the royalty or aristocrats of the clans. They tended to be highly educated and could be rather haughty in manner when the situation arose. The Brujah (Primogen-Eddie Fiori) were the middle class of the clans. They were businessmen (often shady business )and were usually trying to steal power away from the Venture clan or the reigning authority in any way possible. The Gangrels (Primogen-Cash) were the "rebel without a cause" clan. They rode motorcycles and were outcasts, that were looked down upon by most of the members of the other clans. The Toreador clan (Primogen-Lillie Langtry) was comprised of those in the arts. They were the painters, writers, actors and musicians of the Kindred. The Nosferatu (Primogen-Daedalus) were the most secretive of the clans. Differing in physical appearance from the other clans, they lived in the shadows and did not have the freedom of movement among humans as did other clans. The Nosferatu were the most ancient of the clans and could be the most violent when provoked.
All of the clans lived under the regulations of The Masquerade. This was a set of ancient laws that governed the behavior of all Kindred and kept them safe from humans. The Masquerade was enforced by the regional vampiric Princes. For a Kindred to violate the laws of The Masquerade could bring about punishment from the Prince and could be as severe as declaring a blood hunt. A blood hunt was brought about when a Kindred embraced or turned a human, without their permission, into a vampire or if a Kindred revealed the existence of the vampire society to a human. The blood hunt resulted in final death for the Kindred sentenced to such.
The Kindred clans in Kindred-The Embraced were never in harmony. It was up to Julian Luna to keep the peace and he was forever striving to do so.
