Show Tidbits
There was a point that the Showtime Cable Network expressed an interest in reviving Kindred:The Embraced, but ended the plan when Mark Frankel was killed in a motorcycle accident. It was felt by Showtime, that no other actor could replace Frankel in the role of Kindred Prince, Julian Luna.

Jeff Kober actually painted the art works attibuted to his character Daedalus on the series.

Detective Frank Kohanek (C.Thomas Howell) was the character of note in the first three episodes of Kindred:The Embraced, but the show shifted emphasis to Julian Luna's charcter. This was due to the popularity of Mark Frankel in the role of Julian.

Mark Frankel, the actor in the role of Julian Luna, was killed in an accident(September,1996) ,while riding his yellow Harley Davidson motorcycle, a scant four months after Kindred:The Embraced ceased production (May,1996). Frankel was said to be especially proud of his motorcycle, as there were only six yellow Harley Davidson motorcycles of the type he owned and rode, in existence, at the time of his death.

This is the episode (The Nightstalker) that Daedalus uses Alchemy to change his appearance to a more human like form. He does this so that he can meet the human singer Elaine Robb. Daedalus is very much in love with Miss Robb. He and Elaine finally meet in her apartment and make love, but the next morning, Daedalus had reverted to his Nosferatu form and Elaine rejected him and believed he was a serial killer that was on the loose, called the Nightstalker. Daedalus was heartbroken by Elaine's reaction. He had been warned by Julian, but did not heed the advice.

Mark Frankel 's youngest child was born after his death in September, 1996.

There was another clan of Kindred mentioned on the series, Kindred:The Embraced, called the Assamites. They were said to be assassins and were looked down upon and feared by the other Kindred clans. The Assamites were not included as a regular clan on the series and there is little known about them, with the exception of the above information.

There is an excellent review of Kindred:The Embraced on a website called DVD Times. The review gives some very interesting insight into the series and is a must read for all Kindred admirers.

The Kindred, as the underground vampire society, governed by the laws of "The Masquerade", called themselves, were divided into sub-groups called clans. Each clan had a leader called a primogen. These groups were very distinctive in nature and very protective of one another. The Venture clan was the elite of the clans and they were usually the leaders of the the vampire society in each geographic area of Kindred population. The Ventures tended to be well-educated, articulate and somewhat elitist in attitude. The Toreador clan were the artisans of the Kindred. The painters, the dancers, the vocalist, the musicians, anyone that had talent in the arts was usually a member of this clan. They were high strung, intelligent, and so very passionate in all that they did. The Gangrels were the "rebels" with a cause members of the Kindred. They came from the streets and were usually the outcasts of society. They didn't fit in as humans and had the same place in Kindred society. They hate authority and rules. They, of all the Kindred clans, believed in freedom and the open road. The Brujah, were the middle class thugs, of the Kindred. Never quiet measuring up to the Ventures and never willing to fall to the level of the Gangrels. They were very competitive in nature and were not above using the most devious of means to acheive what goals they were seeking. They could be and were brutal killers when the situation called for it, in their eyes. The Noferatu were the most ancient of the Kindred clans. They were different in physical appearance from the other Kindred members and could not freely move about because of it. They stayed in the shadows and were looked down on by many of the other Kindred. However, they were highly intelligent and were often scholarly and bookish. They were also the most powerful of the Kindred and tended to be more of the human concept of vampires from mythology. They often dabbled in the occult arts and were known to practice black magic. All the clans were strong and rivalries often sprung up and called for the interventiom of the regional Princes to settle disputes and keep the peace.
